Question:

So do the rules not apply if you are a host country?

So my friend and I were watching the Olympics. And my friend was born and raised in China, by the way. And during the women's gymnastics finals the first thing he said is "Those girls are nowhere near 16."

And what was up with the beam scores? The chinese girl falls and her score was 15.9. The American girl falls and gets a 15.2. If that was calculated correctly then there is something seriously wrong with that sport. Why bother have the compeition if one team's start value is so high you can't possibly win? Boy am I glad I didn't do gymnastics when I was a kid. That sport is a joke. At least with real sports, the underdog has a change to win once in a while.

And who does China think they are fooling putting up those little girls? I guess if you are a host country, no one cares when you cheat.

  1. A Chinese newpaper had the Chinese Gymnasts profiles and they listed her as only 14 years old.

Once they realised they had this paper deleted from history as they do with anything here.

If it was a mistake with her age by typo then they could just correct it. But they didn't correct it they tried to make it disappear which shows an attempt to hide truth.

The story about the little girl lip-synching for the opening ceremony has been removed from all Chinese media once again to hide the truth.

As for the soring I hate sports that are judged. I always believe there are controvercies in subjective sports. I think she did better then her so she an have more points etc. People's opinions and sports results should remain separate. Too bad it can't happen.

  2. The girl who fell recovered from her falling point deduction by doing many difficult flips and tricks. Instead of posting a new question about the same topic that so many people asked. Why don't you actually look at those questions. Because I am tired of seeing the same question.

  3. The Chinese women's gymnastics team is the reigning world champion. That fact has nothing to do with who's hosting the olympics.

  4. no

  5. Maybe these girls have been working so hard physically that puberty has come late for them (if you work out really hard, you tend to not get your period, so you don't get the hormones you need to look older).  I'm not saying that there's no way China is lying here, since China is trying really really hard to portray an image of perfection (heard about the lip synching issue?), but it could be possible.

The beam scores are more than just whether or not you fall or not.  They look at difficulty and execution, though I do have to agree that it is a bit sketchy.  A lot of times, the commentators, who are pros at watching gymnastics, kept saying that Nastia Liukin got robbed.

But eventually, the truth will be found.  And if it turns out that there's another judging cheating scandal and underage girls, well, China will never hear the end of it.

  6. because the gymnastics are using a difficulty rating, much like in the diving. So the chinese girls routine would have had a higher rating.

  7. USA should know they have hosted them often enough but it doesn't mean their athletes cheated they just had the home town crowd behind them and pride in their country.

  8. Asians tend to look younger than they really are :P

  9. It has nothing to do with whether you're the host. China has always been better than the US in gymnasium, just like US does better in swimming. Don't keep passing the sour grapes.

  10. If your friend says they are too young then I will accept is as a reputable source.

    Darn! So China is cheating!

  11. I think that because their gymnasts are naturally tiny, they tend to look young. I am Asian, and my sister who is 20 is only 4'11" and probably looks like she's 12. Just from experience, Chinese girls tend to look quite young especially considering that gymnasts are expected to be small.

  12. You know that girl Alicia (I think that's her name) made one h**l of a mistake before she even got on the beamer. That move right is what made the difference ya know.

  13. Cheating in the Olympics? Imagine that.

Seriously is anyone surprised China is cheating? That country is obsessed with winning more gold than the USA. They dont care how they win....they just want the newspaper headlines to say "CHINA BEATS USA!"
