  1. Ok, see, I understand why you would ask this, but by looking at the responses, it seems that people here actually think that they have the same fighting styles.  They don't.  So they had one fight where they both slugged it out because they both knew that was their best way to secure a spot on the UFC roster, but really, FG is where he is because he evolved past that.

Where is "The American Psycho?"  Not holding a belt right now, that's where.  He's not holding gold, or even holding down a ringside seat nowadays because he was a one-trick-pony who didn't evolve, not to mention he got popped for steroids, but that’s another story for another day.

Forrest realized quickly that a slug-fest wasn't going to do anything but get him into the UFC, and then get himself a short career (see Chris Leban in two years).  Forrest has done tons of work in his ground defense, takedown skills, submissions, and every other facet of his game.  People who watch UFC on the surface still see FG as a banger who will only bang.  Watching Forrest against Jackson should have proven that wasn't it for him.  How about the 10-8 round where he dominated Jackson by keeping full guard and both hooks in for 90% of the match?  Would the old Forrest do that?  Could the old Forrest do that, or better yet, could the Bonner of today do that to Rampage?  h**l no they couldn't.

Watching Forrest's wheels turn during the Jackson fight was interesting because you could just see him contemplating his submission options.  He tried for a while to get a Kimora.  He tried a triangle.  He attempted a body triangle too.  He even tried a gogoplata I think, if my memory serves me correctly.  These are all examples of how Forrest has evolved, and if he didn't evolve, then he and Stephan Patrick Bonnar would have been sharing beers while Jackson was fighting Rashaad Evans on July 5th.

If you want more evidence that one-trick-bangers can’t hang forever, look at what happened to Forrest against Keith Jardine.  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚€ÂœThe Dean” banged the banger in a matter of seconds.  Fight over, Goodnight!  Forrest retooled and retrained and came back to earn a decision (not that close), over Hector Ramirez, then knocked out Rua, but Rua didn’t know which Forrest he was fighting.

Forrest and Bonnar are not the same fighter.  Bonnar is concerned with getting back into a UFC ring, not holding UFC gold right now.

  2. It's odd how 2 fighters with the same styles, strength, height, stamina, and warrior attitude, can then go in 2 separate directions.  Forrest fights his way to become champion of the UFC and Steffen fights.  I know it could be a managerial issue, but none-the-less, it is still a skull scratcher.  Kudos to Griffen for showing that a Warrior Heart seperates those who will and those who won't.

  3. I would like to see Steffen Bonner compete and move up in the ranks of the UFC. Before he does that though, I would to see him fight Kimbo Slice, so that everyone can see how well Kimbo can do against real talent.

  4. Stephan Bonner Has thought he could be champ for a long time or he wouldn't still be fighting in the UFC
