If a child of Sarah Palin's can end up pregenant shouldn't we rethink the whole Abstinence only policy?

s*x Ed has to be given in school because Parents can't seem to do it or don't want to do it themselves. Knowledge, as they say, is power. So why not teach kids the reality instead of telling them they should save themselves for marriage? I know women who have done it, and now wish they had experimented first, as well as those who despite being married, are experimenting outside the home.

One of my best friends saved herself until marriage because it was the right thing to do, only to end up marrying a man who already had an STD and never felt the need to tell her (he was a born again virgin).

If parents want to take an abstinence-only approach, they should do it at home not have it shoved down the throats of the kids whose parents want them to be well prepared.

I would think ANY reasonable person would understand this, even republicans.

I don't feel the need to applaud this girl for not having an abortion. After all, it was her mistake. There's nothing admirable in taking responsibility for your own actions.

I don't know why republicans have the misconception that liberals believe in abortion as a form of birth control. That's a trait of the stupid, not the democrats.

Most republican's believe that abstinence should be taught in school, however, most republican also believe in birth control- just not abortion.  Personally in the case of rape & incest I am Pro-Choice & so are lots of others.  It's not like we live in the 1600's or something!  It's just why not use the pill or a condom instead of using abortion as birth control.

  Yeah, I agree !  Youngsters respond more to fear !   Fear of pregnancy, fear of std's, fear of adjusting future plans.

It is necessary and important that we teach kids about birth control, safe s*x, condoms, statistics, etc.

Morality they need to get at home or at church, but the practical side of s*x must be taught before they are sexually active !

No, I was always against teaching only "Abstinence Only". I am for teaching that Abstinence Only is the only 100 percent safe, but also the importance of Safer s*x, Birth control methods and a more objective look at abortions.

When I was in school  Aids was the biggest fear of most of us. They did the good job of balancing s*x education, Safer s*x practices, and birth control. That was what has proven to work.

She took responsibility for her actions which IS taught by republicans morals (a little known fact among liberals I'm assuming). Maybe more dems should teach their children that there are repercussions for your actions and that a righteous woman/man actually takes responsibility for those actions. Maybe then things would be a bit different and all of you can get the "change" you're longing to see. I'd prefer to see it than hear about it anymore.
