and I did it a lil bit late in the season... Its location had been getting the full portion of this Arizona sun which has been sucking the moisture out of the ground despite the mulch I have put down BUT... some kind of clovery looking weeds have recently popped up around its base... now I am wondering if this could be benificial?

My line of thinking is that said weeds wont be able to suck off all the water in the soil and that it will actually retain the moisture there from its cover... is this correct or will they soak up to much of the moisture and keep the tree from getting at it...

  1. Hi ya, Jamus!

My first major was actually environmental studies... and I remember that clover can provide needed nitrogen to other plants.  Let it grow, then till it under before it gets very high.  Keep repeating that process.  It should help the plum tree if you don't just let it go too long.

    Good luck, plums are yummy...

And in AZ, you may need to really keep an eye on soil moisture.
