  1. After it heals up, it should look uniform. If the red isn't dark enough for ya, Starbrite makes a 'crimson red' that is awesome. There's also a good line of ink companies that make a very good 'dark red'. The lighter shades of red usually turn out a little pinkish. That's the way it goes... first your money, then your clothes...   (by the way, you're probably NOT one of those rare people who are allergic. We don't even run into 'em once a year at the shop.)

  2. I think something is going on here other than an allergic reaction, even though it sounds like it.  Unless you have had a tattoo before, people do not instantly become allergic to their tattoos.  It takes at lea st 10 days before the whole allergic process can occur and most red tattoo allergies come after about 6 month.  I worry about the tiny bumps, bubbles.  Keep it clean and dry without anything on it for a day - if if doesn't improve see your doctor.

Don't let someone blow you off by saying you are allergic, either - ink allergies can only be truly diagnosed with a punch biopsy.

  3. i had a bit of a reaction to red ink in my second tattoo just like yours. it looks much better healed although i still need to get it touched up a bit.

  4. I had the same thing happen. Turns out, I was only sensitive to a particular shade of red. When my tattoo was fully healed, I went for a touch up and had it done in a slightly different shade of red. It didn't change the look or feel of my tattoo. Now it's perfect. In fact, I think it looks better with the new shade:)

Ask your artist if they can use a different shade that won't change the look of your tattoo. They might even have to custom make one for you. It will be worth it in the end. Best wishes to you:)

  5. I have a tattoo that I had done 30 years ago, the part were the yellow ink is used swells slightly to this day, usually when the sun is on it (not very often at the moment in the UK).

Maybe you have the same with red ink.

  6. my friend actually had the same thing recently with red ink. It cleared up for a little but it came back again. He's going to the dermatologist to see if there is anything they can do. If not he'd need to have it laser removed and then redone.
