Jimmie Johnson is trying to go for a three-peat.

winning 3 championships in a row!

around daytona that's all anybody talked about..

but now...

i never hear anyone say one word about it!

don't forget that only ONE other person in nascar history has been able to win three in a row!

Not a Jimmie Johnson fan, but I recognize talent when I see it, and Jimmie could very well join Mr. Yarborough, making him the 2nd driver to pull it off.

But seriously, I think everyone is very aware of what Jimmie is going for here.  He is just not as dominate as he was but then again just like last year at the end the kicked it up to a whole new level.  I have someone in mind I would like to see win but if not I wouldn't be disappointed to see Jimmie make history again with a 3 peat.

I don't think anyone's forgotten really.  Everyone is so up 18 and 88's butts to talk about anything else really.  Except occasionally they will talk about Edwards, Hamlin and now Kahne.

I guess he would be the first to win 3 of the new and improved format in a row, but he can't overlook his teammates. If the Hendrick House does anything it learns from the past and that is that the "pre-season" does not count. Johnson proved it twice, and Gordon sure learned  the lesson last year, they are keeping themselves in the points and getting ready for the Chase. that is the only season in NASCAR anymore. It's kinda like the NBA whoever is ready at the end will kick butt, 48 has had the formula.

Between the early silly season news, Kyle and Carl's dominance so far and the various penalties dished out Jimmie has avoided being in the spotlight this year.  I actually like it that way, hopefully he can sneak up on everybody in the chase the way he does in a lot of his races.  He will have an excellent chance to win the 3 in a row, the last 10 races are obviously very good for him!

Nope, I haven't forgotten. He's been looking stronger the last few weeks. He had two sixth place finishes in a row, and his car was a top five car last week. Their pit strategy didn't quite work out the way they wanted it to last week. You know they want that 3-peat, so his cars will keep getting better. He will be a factor before it's all said and done. He always is.

I do not think anyone has really forgotten about it. He will make the Chase and once the Chase starts, everyone will be talking about it again. It doesnt matter if he finishes the regular season in 1st or 12th, all points go away once the Chase Starts. He wasnt even in first place last year when the Chase started.

There's bigger stories right now, especially since HMS is off their game a little.  Jimmie will win a few more races and move up in points and come the Chase, it will be the big story again.

Let the people forget if they want lol,but there will be a rude awakening at the end of the season when Jimmie dominates the Chase like he always does.I can already hear everybody whining about how the Chase was made "just for Jimmie" and how it's not fair and someone else should have won the championship...happens every year.I still hear people whining about how Jeff Gordon should have won the championship last year!!!BTW,you are correct...there is only one driver in NASCAR history to every win 3 championships in a row-Cale Yarborough(76-78).

Well, I don't know about that.  It will be very hard this year specially since Hendrick is struggling right now.  We'll have to see when it gets closer to the Chase.

Yep, he is trying to be the first driver since the great Cale Yarborough to win 3 championships in a row.. I think Jimmie will get another championship, I just do not think it will be this yr, heck he could wind up with 5 or 6 probably.. I'm sure he will finish top 3 or 5 this yr. He and Chad are starting to get it together they'll get some more wins so will Jeff Gordon and Dale Jr.. Yep, the media sure doesn't say much about it. They are either yapping about Rowdy or the new kid in Nationwide Sliced Bread (aka Joey Logano).. Jimmie could surprise everyone but I just do not see it happening..
