So have first time changes already taken place in the presidential election as Mcain picks female for vice?

Well as John Mcain has picked a female for his running mate I am not sure if we have have ever had a female vice president, if not that makes it interesting as changes already are in place. So O'bama will be first black president if he wins or if Mcain wins we will have the first female vice president?

It's almost as if that consideration was made while this pick was being discussed. I find it to be pandering on so many levels.
