So how is SP3 going to help protect my computer and yours and will?

it use up a lot of my free memory or are all the old files compressed in such a way that they use very little space up. and can I delete any of these updates at anytime? Stupid question to those computer geeks no doubt.

sp3 is worth it, it doesn't use that much space and it just provides more security against the virus's and spyware that can eat windows from the inside out. It will automatically create a restore point, so if the update messes up your computer you can undo all that you have done. You should just do it, my guess is you will not notice a difference at all, assuming you have sp2 already. Millions of people have updated to it, and there have been virtually no problems.

Service pack three is just more aware of the viruses around us and if you make a restore point it should remove it and you can find it in add and remove programs further down towards the bottom of the list.

Service Pack 3 (XP) or Service Pack 1 (Vista) Are Microsoft CRITICAL updates. You Must Install/Keep These To Ensure Full Security And Stability In Your Computer, Yes, Its A BIG file, But It Needs To Be There.
