He's a husky.

I found him just walking along the interstate an i didn't want him to get hit so we picked him up.

I named him balto :)

But truth is he isn't mine you know he probably has a home somewhere.

An so i have been looking in newspaper asking my vet && shelters.

An he has no microchip.

Is there another way to search,

An no i haven't done flairs because I don't want somebody who really doesn't own him to come up to me an try to take him.

Want his real owners if they want him you know.

Any help is welcome as long as its help full.

Thanks.

Kat.

  1. Poor Doggy

Where was the dog and probably the owner got fed up with the dog so they let it go I'd say you keep it and take care of it if someone calls and the dog jumps happily maybe that is its owner but if it doesn't it might be just a person pretending keep the dog till you think you found the owner.

  2. Try putting up fliers at the vet and animal shelters stating that you have found a dog on the interstate, but DO NOT put a photo or state the breed or s*x. Then just list your name and phone number on flier. Don't put your home address in case someone locates your house to steal the dog.

If anyone calls, ask them questions like what kind of dog did you lose, what gender, any distinct markings/features on the dog etc.

  3. post on craigslist.org

  4. Well vets are usually the best choice.  Most vets know who owns what breeds.  Whenever someone found a sheltie, every vet would call my house to see if I lost a dog, even the vets I didn't use, so I would call the vets in the area where you found the dog.  I think they usually have 30 days to claim their dog, but you also have to show that you made an effort to find the real owners.  I vote that you keep the dog, since it was chained, it wasn't in a good home.  It is illegal in most places to chain a dog, so the dog is lucky you are taking better care of it.

  5. You can call the shelter and tell them that you want them to advertise the husky. People will call the shelter, they'll be asked to describe the dog. After.. 3 days-2 weeks (not sure where it is where you live), he's legally your's. Of course, if you find fliers or the dog (they should have a name), try the name and if it works, then it's probably theirs. Call them, ask for a description. Most likely if they were have looking for him, they would have been looking for the past two weeks.

Probably was just dumped off on the side of the road... Poor pup.

But I would immediately report him to the authorities/your local shelter. It's important that if he escaped he goes to his home. And if he did get lost, his owners might even relinquish him to you. I've seen it happen before. :)

  6. Well, if  he is older then he might rospond to his real name. So if you do hand out flyers then the people who come to pick him up might be his owners. Or if not you could try going to a dog shelter and handing him in. Or maybe asking around the place you found him wallking asking the houses if they no whos he is? X

Hope I helped. I no  alot about dogs I have many dogs and I have found most of them and kept them because I no its hard to find the owners X

  7. Does he look like he was well taken care of? No name tag?

Also try groomers and doggy day cares. You never know.

  8. Is Balto happy? Does he love his new home and the attention he is getting?? If you answer yes to these questions, then he has found the place he needs to be. More than likely, if you find a dog on the interstate, without a collar or identification, then he was dumped out by some trashy, horrible person. Don't worry about finding his owners, they didn't want him. Enjoy him, love him. He is lucky that you found him!

  9. Try Craigslist (in the pets section). You can put up a post in your area saying that you have found a husky on the interstate. Ask the people to describe him/her in color, anything noticeable about the dog, etc.. Ask these To be sure you have found the correct owner. Or else, someone may just be lyeing to you!

I hope this helps and good luck!

    EDIT:

And I just wanted to say,Thank you for caring for this dog! at least their are some kind people out in the world today! Many peopole would have left the dog there...............

also, put up fliers in shelters, newspapers, around your neighborhood, etc...

If you fall in love wih the dog, and no one replies within 3 weeks the dog is yours (if you want!)  About 7 years ago, I found this skinny white cat wandering a lone in the park. I took her home, and contacted the shelters. I did everything, i just told you to do. I never got any calls for about 3 weeks, so I contacted the shelter. By then, I had fallen head over heals in love with this cat! I wanted to keep her, but I knew she had to find her new owners. Afterall, how could someone dump this beautiful cat?? I called the shelter, and they told me to bring her in. It turns out, that after about 2 or 3 weeks, if no one has replied, they no longer are able to be the owner of the dog! This is for many reasons, you can probably guess.....they arent good owners......And now I have my beautiful white cat that I found in the park. still with me today! 7 years later!

    Good Luck!

    Best of Luck!

  10. If dragging chain and skinny sounds like he may have escaped. Run a found dog on freeway ad with no discription. Tell callers to identify. Probably owner will not call, he sounds unwanted. Then the add will protect you so you can keep him if unclaimed. Good Luck!

  11. You may love this dog but if he has and owner they probable miss him. Put a lost dog advert in the local news paper there could be a reward. If there's no reply after 2 months then you can keep him. Also you will feel much better. He might even have been abandoned.
