  1. To become a registered nurse, you need to have a 4 year bachelor's of science in nursing degree from an accredited university or college. Nursing is great career with many opportunities to work either within the US, Canada or worldwide. I'm not from NJ, so I'm unable to help you with regards to which school is best in NJ, but if you're curious, start researching online. Try to take the pre-requisites (Human Biology & Physiology, Stats, English, and some senior level electives) out of the way, so when you actually start your nursing program, it will be much lighter. All the best!

  2. That is great, as nurses are greatly needed.  You will probably need to get your general education classes first, and then get into an actual nursing program.  Nursing schools usually have waitlists, so you can really get your first two years anywhere, and then check out the schools.  Take chemistry, biology, physics and math in HS, and also health sciences, anatomy and other life sciences if your HS offers them.  Any volunteer experience in the area will really help, such as a volunteer EMT (I know areas in NJ have volunteer EMTs).
