And wanted to play Rock Band/Rock Band 2, I could just buy the disc because all the controllers would be compatible? [For 360]

the guitar for Rock Band has an extra button , but if you play on normal or easy it works.

yes, all the controllers will work with rockband, rockband 2, and guitar hero world tour (guitar hero 4) even the drum set. I think it was 1up.com had a special on E3 2008 where the rockband drums, the red and green pads during different passages turns into the raised orange and yellow cymbals. thats why im getting world tour and rockband 2 so i don't have to buy new equipment, but it's optional.

yeah well thats what i do for my wii and everything works out but if you want to play the drums you have a problem
