  1. Georgia had been forewarned. US and Eu had been forewarned, stop intervening in that region after the US/EU intervention in Serbia/Bosnia/Kosovo.

Russia also forewarned to expect Retaliation with Escalation if intervention occurred.

It seems Russia was not Bluffing, it retaliated by bombing, deploying armor and escalating by air strikes on the capital.

If the media is correct, Georgia made the first strike. For whatever the reason georgia stuck is irrevelant to what US wants to do.

This is an NATO move, even then, US cannot commit w/o a draft and then also finish what it started in the middle east. So yeah, we can expect Iran to back Russia as well as Syria and several others... oh well..

  2. That is the plan of the evil Zionists in Congress and the White House.  The Jews are purposely destroying the USA.  The enemy is within.

  3. We would actually have an easier time politically against Russia than we would against the insurgents in Iraq and terrorists in Afghanistan. The casualties would be higher, but the political fallout would certainly be minimal, and we wouldn't have to be limited in our combat capability. Any defeat the US has suffered so far has been largely due to lackluster support at home (not necessarily a bad thing, as it keeps the US from becoming too imperialistic).

  4. The us is more prepared to fight Russia than the wars we are in Russia has an army

  5. we not getting involved  ....troop wise ...we are just gonna fund the Georgians secretly and learn about it on the history channel years from now

  6. We took on the Brits and French in the 1700-1800's, two strongest militaries  in the world. Germany and Japan WW2. I think the question is, is the red menace ready and prepared for us?

  7. no not at all, we would get out *** kicked. we just dont have the man power for an all out war with a power house like russia and still have troops in lraq and afghanistan, i also feel that if we get in thist iran we jump in for russia

  8. yes they would there would be no problem

  9. It would be disastrous to intervene militarily on what Russia considers it's home soil.  I'd be like if Russia sent in troops to protect the L.A. Rodney King rioters.  How do you think the US would have reacted to THAT?  It's not the best analogy, but that's how it would feel to the Russian government.

If the US intervened, I think the conflict would eventually escalate into a strategic nuclear exchange after many Russian and American soldiers die fighting each other.  Russia still has 10,000+ nuclear weapons aimed at the US.  They do not have the ability to project conventional power, so a strategic nuclear response will be one of their few options.

That being said, the Georgian government deliberately chose the Olympics to initiate this.  They sent in troops first and Russia responded.  It is already escalating, with Russia attacking Georgian forces in Georgia proper, not just South Ossetia.

We should stay out.  We're already over-committed to Iraq & Afghanistan anyways.
