  1. wow.

at my church, they sprinkle your head.

i dont know what religion you are, but i doubt your church will dunk you in an 8ft pool and leave you.

but if you are scared,  take some beginner classes for swimming, this will get you familiar with the water and you will at least be able to float, doggypaddle & put your head in.

but if you are still scared, talk to your preacher or parents.

  2. I think your more likely to drown by running water when you brush your teeth than you are when you get baptized. Seriously, if you can take a bath and wash your hair you'll be fine. Id you've never washed your hair... then that's a different story

  3. some churches actually have a tub inside their church that they baptise in.  And some churches baptise in pools...ask your pastor about these fears of yours.

When you get baptised you go under the water showing you going down with everything and then you come up to show how you are lifted up into christ..

think of it as facing your fears for christ.

  4. What? Swimming has nothing to do with Religion.

When you get baptisted, you don't have to swim. It's just like a cleansing experience, like taking a bath. There's not going to be a deep end to this where you can physically drown.

  5. you done neccesarily need the ocean to get baptised just water, its possible to do it by the sink

  6. There are different methods for baptism.  Some denominations dunk, others pour water over your head and some sprinkle.  I would encourage you to talk to your pastor and see if (s)he would be willing to change their method in respect of where you are currently.

Baptism is an awesome thing - it would be a shame for the significance of the event to be ruined for you because of your fears at this point.  Hopefully in time you will learn to overcome your fear (you don't have to be a fish!) but until then, there are other options.

Congratulations on your decision to follow Jesus Christ!
