So im going into high school!?

What is high school like?? is there any thing i need to do to pre - pair my self???! im not scared i just can't wait; but some people tell me i need to know a lot of stuff but idk what that stuff is!:]] [school starts aug 18,2008! FRESHMEATT!]

School starts at the end of August, and usually is over at the start of june. you go to school five days a week, except holidays. A school day starts at 8:20 and gets out at 2:25

There are many holidays.

labor day

president birthdays

a couple days around thanks giving

and 2 weeks around christmas

memorial day

any national holiday

and any day the teachers meet with parents, or are in meetings to improve there skills

Final exams for my school are at the end of january, and at the start of june, just before school gets out.

Prom is at the beginning of may.

Home coming is a football game, and dance. It usually takes place between a rivial school, and your school. There are usually pep assembalys before, to get people to attend. And there is usually a spirit week leading up to it.

Spirt week is a week of school where you dress crazy, to show that you enjoy the school you attend. I can be anything from halloween day, crazy hat day, and there is always a day you have to where school colors.

Homecoming takes place mid october.

American high school can be boring, or really fun, it depends on what you make it. I chose to make it fun.

first, learn how to spell.

second, just relax and act like how you would in middle school. trust me, people don't mature THAT much over the summer.

lol ok just be yourself thats the number 1 thing and relax. try your hardest and peer pressure is the worst in high school so don't give in keep calm and focus on your studies then when you are absolutely finished then make time for friends

there is more older people

pregnant people

people are more mature[well apart from the freshmans]

food is nasty

you get a ticket if you fight!

teachers are more mean[maybe you will have nice teachers]

dont mess with people coz they will beat you up.

Its a h**l of alot different than middle school that's for sure. You don't get breaks that often, most of your time is dedicated to studying and working up to your senior year. In my state i had to take a competency test in order to graduate. But i had 3 years to complete that. Your friends get weird i would say, mine did, and yeah that's it for me. Hope this helps. =] I remember my freshman year...that's because it was last year...lol but anyways i had concerns about getting picked on or making friends but after a few days i realized that i had nothing to worry about...i made a lot of friends and was very open and had as much fun as i possibly could and it was a great experience! I hope u enjoy freshman year...oh and BTW don't worry about the whole freashmeat stuff it just something the older kids say to scare the incoming class!

I just graduated from high school, and I'm moving away for college in two weeks.

Basically, in high school, pick your battles. If something won't matter in two days, two hours, or even two minutes, don't fight it. Study hard and have fun.

High school is just like middle school, except a little less awkward. :)

It's okay, better than middle school. More freedom, but also more homework. The dances are fun. I think you should just go into high school being friendly and being yourself. Never forget who you are. And have fun!

my highschool has 2 breaks 1 15 min one then another break or lunch for 45 min. not much different than middle school just way more people and different things going on. just have your folders ready and prepare to take notes lol

Haha..me too I start aug 18 but I will be a junior. It's pretty exciting on the first day of school. Just talk to the people u will normally not talk too and try to socialize with everyone..including people u dont like. Try being nice and have no fear. Trust me..u may say u have no fear now but once u get there u mind can change. Highschool is just like any other school..but its the time u find yourself..who u really are.
