  1. No. But I know Virginia is. America has a democracy.

  2. No, it is not part of the Commonwealth of Nations...see this link for more information...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonwealt...

  3. different states are commenweaths.. such as Pennsylvania

  4. see, there was this little altercation we had in 1776, so yeah, thats why we aren't a Commonwealth Nation

  5. I'm thinking not. As an insular ally, we are outside that consideration to my understanding. Remember that the nations being formerly under Britanic rule being a technical requirement for the Commonwealth of Britain. It is not a requirement to be a Commonwealth to be a former ruled country of England. One does not necessarily mean the other in otherwords.

Commonwealth is a tricky word though as its been tossed about in so many fashions over the years. In the U.S. we've even had four "commonwealth" (with a lower c) states one of which is Kentucky.

You certainly will want to research it more but that's my understanding.

  6. No it isn't.Why do you think America has Independance Day?

  7. Since the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, the United States had been celebrating Independence Day (commonly known as the Fourth of July) which is a federal holiday commemorating the day when America declared independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.

Queen Elizabeth II is not Queen of the United States of America, that is why you have a President rather than a Prime Minister. Hint the reason why you do not find the United States as part the 16 sovereign states within the Commonwealth of Nations with Elizabeth II as their respective monarch.

  8. No.  The commonwealth was formed long after the United States became independent of Britain.

The Commonwealth of Nations is a group of countries. Originally, it was called the British Commonwealth of Nations which was founded in 1926 when the British Empire began to break-up. Now, there are 53 member countries of the Commonwealth of Nations. All except Mozambique were part of the British Empire. There are some other associations having similar sounding names. For example, the Commonwealth of Australia or the Commonwealth of Independent states. But, the Commonwealth of Nations is different and a separate organization.

  9. Oh my, I hope you're not British :S America WAS a British colony until they had the war of Independence (or revolutionary war) and the 13 existing states separated from Britain. Canada is still in the commonwealth along with 52 other nations. Hong Kong was handed back to China 10 years ago, the commonwealth is pretty much made up of countries that Britain colonised.

  10. The U.S.A. is a Republic

and is not part of the British Commonwealth.

  11. No it isnt

  12. Ummm....the foundation of the United States began with a war for Independence in which America declared a separation from the Commonweath and thus would no longer be ruled by the British soverign. At the time, George III was the ruling king.

The US celebrate this significant event each year on the 4th of July!
