Question:

So is Anthony Kim the guy to unseat Tiger as top golfer?

He beat Tigers record at Wachovia by 3 shots, with a couple bogeys at the end so it could have easily been by 4 or 5. Youngest to win on tour in six years. Will he be the next phenom?

  1. I highly doubt it.  A lot of PGA golfers are good, but Tiger is better.  Maybe the best.

  2. I think he's gonna be as good as KJ Choi.... also a fellow Korean??

  3. Anthony Kim is an amazing golfer (he's fun to watch live, like some people mentioned already), but I don't think he's got the consistency to take Tiger's throne.. If anyone does that sometime soon, I'm guessing it will be someone younger who hits a hot streak going into the Player's Championship and the US Open and wins one of those

Even if that happens (and my guesses would be along the lines of Adam Scott, Paul Casey, etc.) I still doubt they would accumulate enough points to overtake Tiger

  4. no way he had 1 amazing week and is having a gd year are u really saying hes better than micleson?

no1 will ever catch tiger it will b tiger dropping in quality

  5. I saw Kim at the Verizon Heritage in Hilton Head, and was very impressed with is game and focus. But I don't know if anyone will dethrone Tiger anytime soon.

  6. Tiger is probably the best ever.  Out of 6 billion people, Tiger is it, so the odds are against all others.  Kim, IF he can continue to improve, will be a force to be reckoned with.  Then after that, IF he can play a couple of seasons in the the top 10 slot, AND continue to improve, we THEN can start talking about dethroning Tiger.

Anything is possible, and this kid looks fantastic...BUT, first he must complete step A and B, before we can have this conversation.

Never forget, there are 10,000 Michelle Wies for every 1 Tiger.

  7. maybe

    .

  8. So the kid wins one tournament and you are ready to annoint him as the next great thing?  Wachovia is a big tournament, but lets let him play in a few more majors before we start crowning him.  He had a good week, but I think he lacks the dedication and mental toughness to compete at a high level week in and week out.

So no, I dont think hes the one thats going to do it.

  9. Ask this question again after he wins a major, preferable two or three, not after his first career Tour victory (which Tiger wasn't in FYI).  Until then, no one is even worthy of being mentioned in the same paragraph as Tiger, let alone the same sentence.  Sorry, Tiger is just that good.

  10. I had a good friend that played with him at Oklahoma and he said he's one of the best he's ever seen.  This is coming from an aspiring tour player who has Monday qualified a few times.  However, if he does unseat Tiger it will not be for a long time.  I have no doubt that he will be a top 10 player before he's 30.  He did beat Tiger's record at the Wachovia, but lets see him win the Masters by 12 like Tiger did at 22.  Tiger also became the number 1 player in the world less than 50 weeks after turning pro.

  11. no way tiger is just to good his bad spells don't last very long the only way to unseat tiger is for him to retire or get an injury

  12. IS a phenom I guess but Tiger wins more than once and consistently throughout the year. This guy will have to beat tiger more than once and this is GOLF, people tend to get BETTER as they go on, I dont see Tiger being upseated unless he just retires.

  13. Call it one and done.  He's just another golfer to win a tournament that Tiger didn't play in.  Watch.  You'll see.
