  1. If you're living in the US.. technology is fast growing, if you're technology savvy and can make any connections with wholesale companies in the US, you can make some serious money fixing, upgrading or selling computers..  Teaching English or Spanish in Antigua is also a great money maker..  If you try to get a regular job, you'll be in for a disappointment, as even doctors make approximately $1,000 per month..  Just some ideas..

  2. Firstly you have to get used at the fact the Guatemala City is not as safe as the US, so basically just be more careful out on the streets at night.

Depending on where you live and what you want to do, there's many things you can do.  Since you speak english you can go teach at an English Academy.  My husband while we were living in Guatemala, he is canadian, and it was a fun experience, but you have to know that wages there are not that good if you are not a professional.  But you will meet a lot of people and have lots of fun.  The academy my husband worked for is Academia Europea but some friends that worked with him there started another one named International Business Academy which pays way better.

    Good luck!

  3. Guatemala is not more unsafe than some parts of the Bronx or east LA.

Be street smart and you'll be fine.

When it comes to get a job, i recommend that as soon as you get there, travel illegally thru Mexico and comeback. You can get one here.
