So my family's getting a new car.......?

what kind of car could we get, so we can be greener? Any suggestions or websites? Thanks.

I personally like the Toyota Prius hybrid. It is much cleaner than most other vehicles out there.

Right now the greenest car on the planet is the Prius:

And actually if you can wait until the end of the year, the next generation Prius will be coming out.  It will supposedly be able to get 80 mpg in the city, where the current Prius gets 50 mpg city.

But if you're getting a new car now, the current Prius is still quite good.  The next greenest car in the US is the Honda Civic hybrid.  That's the car people choose when they want a hybrid but think the Prius is ugly, because it just looks like a regular Civic.

Get a HUGE SUV (like the size of a tanker truck 2miles to the gallon) and fill it with oak seeds and plant them in a big field. If anyone asks, just say you are balancing the universe.

Toyota Prius. You'll love getting 50 mpg, although the oil industry won't.

EDIT for Brandi - hydrogen cars are not even mass produced yet, and won't be for about a decade.

Depends on what you have to sepnd

Toyota Prius is one of the most popular hybrids. Honda Insight is good too. but they cost like 30 grand in the end.

The Toyota Yaris is gas only but gets around 35-40 mpg and costs about 12-15 grand.

What ever you get, keep in mind how long you plan on keeping this car and how much gas might cost over that time.  In 3 to 4 years, I could reasonablly see gasoline costing $5 or $6 a gallon, so could you afford to be paying that in the car you are planning on getting?  Look for something that gets VERY good gas mileage is my advise.

There are tons of hybrid options.  When I was looking i saw a really good Toyota Camry. Theres also the first hybrid SUV Ford Escape. And there is trucks like the Chevy Silverado. Its really what kind of car you like. If you are really trying to be green search your heart out for a hydrogen car.
