i was able to watch only the first 7 games of the first set whein nadal leads at 5-2 and the broadcast was switched to badminton. anyhow - i saw that the final scores were at 63,76 6-3. NADAL wins the elusive gold which EVEN fed never did. HE's the first number 1 to win the elusive gold. VAMOS RAFA and good luck at the US Open.

  1. NEVER broke rafa's serve!!! gonzo threw everything but the proverbial sink, but to no avail...

awesome match for the new number 1!!! i hope he's fully rested for the US Open on the 25th

its 12:25 am manila time, RAFA is now the NEW No.1, Olympic champion and No1. seed for the USO...

let's see how R.Fed does in the tougher draws... :)

    VAMOS RAFA!!!

  2. He played amazingly !!!!!

Gonzalez only had a chance to break Rafa's serve in the final set, when I think Rafa let himself get carried away with thoughts of the gold medal, but he regained composure and didn't let Gonzalez break him :).  I'm soooo proud that he won lol !!  Spain's first ever gold - it must mean so much to him :).

    Vamos Rafa !! xx

  3. Vamos Rafa !!

Even though I'm not a big fan of him.. and I'm Nole fans... :)

Yes, it's only half of his solid game.. not in total .. Gonzalez don't have any chances after all..

If Nole and Rafa meet in the final .. Surely a 5 set game :)

I'm happy seeing Nole on the victory ceremony.. don't you find he's cute..?

Btw, Vamos Rafa once again..! bye2

  4. yes he played some solid tennis that is for sure!

he also handled djovick along the way, which is great considering its on hardcourt!

if nadal has a great rest before the US OPEN... he will be in some sparkling form to win it!

  5. Congratulations Rafa.

Rafa will be officially Number 1 as of 18 August,

  7. looks like it!  amazing actually since it's in hardcourt.

i hope that people will stop doubting whether nadal deserves to be #1 or not.  because he truly deserves it.  he has worked hard and has waited long for this.  he has also proven that he can be good in other surfaces other than clay.  and he still has room for improvement.  can you imagine how formidable he can be if he is at his peak?

i heard that the us open court is much like the court in beijing.  hope nadal gets enough rest so he can sink his teeth in the us open trophy.

  8. nadal is in his best form
