Actually, I think that this may backfire on McCain...I have heard from numerous women who are a bit "insulted" that he thinks he can win votes due to what's between someones legs...Not what is in their head!

Yes, it is a transparent pick.  But I have a feeling Sarah Palin is going to wow the country next week when she gets her chance on stage.  The more I learn about her, the more impressive she is.  Even I have to give props to the old man for this one.  I think she will energize the base.  Democrats will attack a mother of 5 with a Down syndrome child at their peril.  The best idea is to just ignore her.  She won't be an issue after the convention.  And  I don't think she will pull in Hillary supporters.  She is too far right for that.

No, we are more interested in merit than "quotas".  Gender is not as important as being pro-life, pro-gun, pro-America, pro-domestic energy, pro-family, etc.

Ummmm.....McCain has met and chatted with Sarah Palin one time.  ONE TIME!!  He obviously thinks all Americans are stupid pawns.

Instead of a woman who runs with wolves, Palin prefers killing them…from airplanes and helicopters. What a brave hunter! Then there's her position on teaching of evolution in schools: "It should be taught from all sides," she said ignorantly and presuming that there are many sides. What??? Creationism (or "Intelligent Design") as the conservative courts of the land have decided is religion. Evolution is science.

Is it any wonder that in the last 28 years, America has dropped from being in the top ten literate countries to 41…after Poland, Cuba, and Slovenia? Regardless of party, I'm sure he turned off some knuckle dragger's today..but overall, I think it was the huge boost he needed. He has a true conservative on his ticket to help him with the base he was having issues with.

Yes to the first part, no to the second. The gender factor plays to the Hillary disaffected. It's certainly not as powerful a move post-DNC, where the Dems successfully pushed for unity. In light of the fact that the PUMA thing was definitely not the potent force (if indeed it was a force at all) it was touted as being, the choice of Palin is not as shiny shiny as it might have been if Hillary had not come out so fervently in support of her party and Obama.

However, the choice of Palin still has teeth. She's not linked to Bush and she is no moderate...two very important considerations for McCain.

As for the second part, so-called alpha-males (odd term in this context) will be voting for a president, not a VP. It won't affect their 'activism' come November.
