So on friday i got busted for possession of marijuana. . they wrote me a ticket. . but it wasnt mine. . . .?

i was written up a ticket for possession and i have a month till court according to the ticket. i was in the car with 3 other people and i was in the back right seat. the weed was found under the passenger seat, so when they searched the car, i took the fall. i intend on appealing, but does anyone have any advice on what to do, say, expect. anything. . .

If you admitted to it being yours, you're stuck with the charge. Never, ever talk to the cops.

Well, here is the deal, kid.  You got stopped.  Your friends gave the cop PROBABLE CAUSE (PC) to search because they were figiting in their seats.  In the court of law.... that is good enough PC.... ESPECIALLY when something was accually FOUND!!!  First off, ditch your friends.  If, in fact, it wasn't yours- they let YOU take the fall.  If, in fact, it WAS yours.... then you got caught- man up and take your lashes, son.  First off..... you were not charged with owning marijuanna, smoking marijuanna, or even selling marijuanna.  You were charged with POSSESSION.  Common defense by people.  Possession means you had it in the car with you.  EVERYONE could have been charged but you got hit.  Sorry.  Defending it is not looking at the PC for the search cause you are screwed there.  Try defending the PC for the actual traffic stop.  But any lawyer will know to do that.  It usually blows up in their face though.... especially legal-aid lawyers.  You are better off having a tomato with hepititis C represent you.  You probably make too much money to get a public defender and most municipalities do not offer one.  If you are poor enough to get one.... then you should turn off your internet and Yahoo Answers to save money for fines and court costs.  You know what you did.  Good or bad.  Plead guilty or not guilty based on that.  You could go the no contest (BEST) route and go that way which will get it done and over with.  Rules for the future.... quit smoking dope and hanging out with figity dopers!  Good luck.... unless you ARE A DOPER... then- Good try!  HA!

Most repeated lie

1) "But it isn't mine officer"

Now if you are telling the truth, you should have never admitted to it being yours.

Get an attorney.  If you can't afford to hire one, you have plenty of time to contact legal aid in your area for a low-or-no cost attorney.  Don't discuss this with anyone at all except your attorney.  That includes the three other people.  It is very important you don't talk to anyone about it.  That is the main thing that bites people in the **** in these cases.  Best of luck, and watch the company you keep in the future.  Only morons drive around with weed in the cab of the car.  Almost every car has a trunk, and it can't be searched without the car operators permission.  Jeeze!

Well since you took the fall, you admitted it so even though you contest the ticket, it will be hard for you to get out of it. Since you stepped up for it, it's all yours. If you wouldn't have, they would have either gave the driver a ticket or just inventoried it as a "no case." Since you didn't let that happen and decided to take the fall for your friends, it's all on you now.

Well, guess what. Since you and your buddies were suddenly struck stupid at the same time some dope was found, ultimately you get the charge because it was YOUR car and are responsible for the actions of the passengers and have control of the vehicle.

They call it "Dope" for a reason.
