x - 3/4x = 1/6 and the next 3/x +5 = 3/3x - 2

The teachers explain and I am so lost! Students my own age do better.

They are both fractions so maybe I should say it this way x - 2 over 4x = 1 over 6 and 3 over x + 5 = 3 over 3x -2

  1. what exactly is the problem here....there are 2 equations...what're u supposed to with em

  2. are you wanting to find x? it is very easy. for the first question i think you mean:

    (x-3)/(4x) = 1/6. To solve these types of questions the first thing you always have to do is get rid of the denominators (that is the numbers on the bottom of the fraction). To do this first multiply each side by 4x: on the left hand side this can just get rid of the denominator so we have x-3=4x/6. now do the same with the other side so we have 6x-18=4x. now try and get the x's on the same side - minus 4x from each side so we have 2x - 18 = 0. Then add 18 to each side so we have 2x=18. now divide each side by 0 so we get x = 9. That's the answer.

    do the same with the other one he is the working :

    3/(x+5) = 3/(3x-2)

    3 = 3(x+5)/(3x-2)

    3(3x-2)=3(x+5)

    9x-6=3x+15

    6x-6=15

    6x=21

    x=21/6
