so i have been on boats since i was like 4 and i have been sailing since but this summer i have decided to really buckle down and buy my own dingy. i have experience with laser radials/full/and the laser 2, i also know my way around a 420oh and of coarse opti's back in the day but that is hardly an option hehe. i want to race it on the east cost of the us so it needs to be relatively popular, i think i am leaning to a single...help!!!

  2. Hi. Lasers are great, but a common boat to move up to is a Thistle. If you've been sailing on the East Coast I'm sure you've seen them. It's a great boat to be in for the performance but also because of the established class structure that keeps older boats competitive, provides learning resources for those new in the class, and has a high level of expertise to challenge you as you improve. You can find a group that will introduce you by checking out WWW.thistleclass.org. Call or email one of the people near you and they'll help you try out the boat as crew or assist you in getting your own boat. There are active fleets across the country so if you move you'll have friends waiting for you!
