  1. I usually brew strong tea and use it to dissolve the sweetener (sugar -- white or brown --, honey, or molasses) in a tall glass or mug. Use as much as you would normally use for tea. Add lemon juice to taste, about a tsp for me. Add one or two oz of rum and stir. I've never used spiced rum; I prefer Demerara rum. Whisky will also work, if you prefer it. After you drink one or two, you may still be sick but you won't care. They're pretty good when you're not sick too.

  2. Hot Toddy

         1  ounces Whiskey

         1 ounce Honey

          ounce Lemon Juice

         3 ounces Water (Hot)

If you have a microwave, the easiest way to make this drink is to warm the honey and lemon juice for about half a minute and then to add hot water and the whiskey. Otherwise, we recommend that you stir the honey and lemon juice into extremely warm water, allow it to cool slightly, and add the whiskey.

  3. How to Make a Hot Toddy for a Flu:

Boil a cup or 2 of water and pour into a mug.

Place an herbal tea bag or a decaffeinated tea bag into the mug and steep for 5 minutes.

Add 1 to 2 tsp. honey to the tea.

Add 1 shot (approximately 2 oz.) of bourbon, whiskey or rum.

    Stir thoroughly.

Breathe in the steam from the hot toddy as you sip.
