Then I guess there are no "Good Parents" now are there? All human parents fail so why judge Pallin for her childs decisions. 17 is hardly a young child.

This is not a commentary on her parenting skills.  It is a commentary on her political agenda.  She is a fierce opponent of s*x education, and had her daughter got the kind of comprehensive s*x education, that she is vehemently opposed to, she wouldn't be in this situation.

To directly answer your question, if your 17 year old gets pregnant... you've screwed up somewhere as a parent. Doesn't mean you are a bad person, but you did lose track of your child and your parenting, period.

That said, I couldn't really care less about that. Her stand on abortion, creationism being taught alongside evolution in schools, and our climate crisis are FAR MORE disturbing than her lapse in parenting.

I don't think Palin has admitted that her daughter did make a mistake. I think she's perfectly happy with it.

This is a private matter between Gov. Palin and her family; it can happen.  But yes, the parents are responsible for the mistakes of their minor children.

I am an Obama supporter, but I look at other politicians and see the good side as well as the negative.  I think McCain has made a mistake here, but that doesn't stop me seeing what a neat lady his V.P. choice is.  When she was pregnant, and they told her that she was going to have a Downs Syndrome child, they recommended abortion.  She refused and gave birth to a wonderful child.   Down Syndrome children are a blessing that gives and takes unconditional love, and shows the innocence of the pure in heart.

So we may not agree with everything politicians state, or live their lives.  Do not let us forget that there is always the good in everyone, and we should not come down on them so hard, with such judgement and prejudice.

I do not agree with her when she states no abortion under any circumstances, but I do see her as a good mother, who has made some really good choices.  I will not condemn a woman, because she is a politician on the "other" side.

No, every parent who claims to be raising their kids according to Better Than Yours values that they want to impose on the country at large should expect a bit of backlash when it turns out that they don't have the formula for perfect children, either.

EDIT: @ Steve b Mc,, what part of "choice" is difficult for you to understand?  No one is going around pushing abortions on people who don't want them.

If Obama had a 17 year old pregnant daughter, I guarantee you the conservatives would be claiming it proved they did not embrace "family values".

It works both ways.

However, since she is a 17 year old and not running for office, I will look no further than McCain's numerous affairs to see what he deems as "family values".

I think that what makes her a good parent and that will make her a better VP because as parents we can relate to her, because we are all imperfect.  I like her.
