Question:

So the Republican solution to U.S. dependence on foreign oil is to get a VP who is married to a worker for BP?

As in British Petroleum. This seems like maybe not the best plan...or maybe I'm crazy.

But I honestly want to know how you all reconcile your desire to get America off of foreign oil while picking a VP candidate married to a worker in one of those non-U.S. oil suppliers. Seems kinda odd to me, but want to hear the responses.

  1. A worker, not a CEO or owner, who will be taking a leave of absence if she is elected in order to take care of the kids. If he was in a higher up position, I might worry, but not when he is at the chicken-pickens of the food chain.

  2. BP is as American as apple pie.  They acquired two of the biggest US oil companies, Amoco and Atlantic Richfield.

Former CEO, Lord Browne, resigned after his g*y lover threatened to write a book about their relationship.  Someone asked, "Is he a Lord or a Queen?"

Her husband is not a ranking official.  He is a union laborer working for BP.

  3. Yep, You're crazy.

  4. Dont ask Republicans to think, they like to do stupid things then blame the Democrats

  5. My my. Are you simple or what? Obama's solution is to raise taxes on oil until no one can afford it. You think that's a solution?

  6. yeah....can't be having a spouse with a real job.

  7. Well Pelosi and the rest of  the Democrats said two years ago they'd bring down the price of gas.

They lied, lets see what the Republicans can do, Bush has already stopped its rise by saying he would not oppose drilling offshire (thank god)

  8. Yep, you got it. You're crazy!

It doesn't matter who drills the oil, it's the fact that is our oil! It increases supply bringing price down.  Is there not a single Democrat in this country that has passed econ 101?

    McCain/Palin '08

  9. She supports drilling in Alaska to reduce foreign oil while we work on other energy solutions. Enough for me.

  10. democrats would rather be paying $15 more per gallon of gas rather than drill for our on oil.  Yet, they claim that only the rich vote for Republicans.  Who's kidding whom?

  11. Yes.

  12. The woman works in Alaska and has a good working knowledge of the energy situation in that oil rich state. Hello?!

  13. Gee, the guy works for a living drilling for oil. Going to be tough to find a job like that working for an American company. But Todd Palin is just a union guy who goes where the shop sends him, And he is not the one running for VP, His wife is. Finally, might want to read up on what Sarah Palin has done to help USA wean its dependence on foreign oil (and protecting the environment too) by supporting more natural gas.

  14. They have to buy rights to that oil.  The money goes in our coffer.

When we buy overseas even if we drill it we have to pay for and pay to ship it.  If you would argue that $10B a month is too much to spend on Iraq then $58B a month for foreign oil and refusing to drill here is ridiculous.  It won't solve all of our energy or foreign oil problems but $10B compared to $58B?  That's as bad as saving that seventy percent of our oil consumption with the four percent we could save by inflating our tires.

  15. Sure, McCain's policy is drill drill drill....

  16. obama is not raising taxes on oil, he is raises taxes on the oil companies. and that he is giving 1000 rebates to families, with the tax on the oil companies. i may be wrong, but that is what i have read. if you can give me proof that i am wrong i will be satisfied.

  17. She raised 5 kids, so that's enough to qualify her and give her better judgment to control our energy problem than those 3 other guys running for office.  ;(

  18. Hey, if GW can hand out contracts to companies without going through a bidding process, why can't McCain? The Republicans never have the best plan for anyone except those in their own circles.

Shagnasty, if he's a union worker and she's a Republican, that scares me. Shows she doesn't care about workers too much.
