them suspects. What do they expect after their criminal behaviour. Why haven't they been charged with 'abandoning children' ?

How can anyone claim that the Mccann's have been cleared or "acquitted"? From what i understand, the Portuguese are saying that they know what happened in the apartment, that Madeline died there, but that there is insufficient evidence to pursue the case any further. I know d**n well what THAT implies!

As for suing? The Mccann's are fond of saying that aren't they? What a cheek? When they have done nothing constructive to explain what happened to their daughter. Remember all THOSE questions they refused to answer? Remember all those people that they allowed to trample through the apartment, destroying any evidence?

Worst of all? All the involvement of top politicians, especially Brown, and all their lovey media pals.

This so called educated couple, abandoned their wee kids in a strange hotel room and went out on the p**s with their 'chums', This behaviour would not be contemplated by even the thickest of parents. Just wait now for books films and the lot, they're gonna be rich, very rich. I do hope they have consciences, to date it doesn't appear so, or as some of their supporters are saying, the educated hide their feelings, what bullsheet, have you seen the state of some of the poor parents on TV, it tears your heart out. This pair are aloof, and don't give a d**n. I am not religious, but if I'm wrong, I hope they rot in h**l.

its amazing isn't it that they have not been done for child neglect and still have children in their care....its ok in this country if you are from certain classes isn't it? you can do what the h**l you like WITH YOUR KIDS and get away with it...try it single mother or working class family and see how quick social services and the police sort you out! 'Abandoning children' is not putting your kids to bed 100 yards away and then checking on them regularly is it? The Portuguese authoriries don't seem to think so either or am I missing something? Please tell us?

HELMETHE... They haven't been acquitted, because they were never charged or tried for anything.

The fact that their 'official suspect' status has been lifted really proves very little either way, as no-one has yet produced any compelling and meaningful evidence to prove or disprove ANY of the various theories about Maddie's disappearance, including the McCann's own abduction theory.

Their statement said ' the police have failed us in their role as police officers' am I the only one that finds that a bit rich as if they had not friggin left her alone while they went out to get p*ssed then this never would have happened,  I would say that was failing in their role as parents.

I dont understand how that Robert Murat can sucessfully sue the papers when noone actually knows what happened?!!? surely NOONE can be taken off the suspect list when NOONE knows what happened!?!?

They refuse to answer police questions or help in a reconstruction but demand to know what the police have on them!!!

They effectively closed down the investigation and could reopen it simply by answering those questions but you will not see them doing it!!!

What an arrogant pair!  They should consider themselves extremely lucky that they have not been charged with negligence-which they should be.  They should disappear quietly,  not be sueing the authorities, and think themselves lucky that they got away with it!

Maybe because they didn't abandon their children?  Their children were nearby, in their own beds, and they were being checked on regularly.  Doesn't sound like abandonment to me.

Edit:  What's half a block?  The point is:  they thought their children were safe.  As did many of the other parents who did the same thing, on this complex and throughout world.  If they want to start charging people with "abandoning" their children, then there will be a lot of parents in jail, along with the mcCanns - the only ones to have had their child disappear.

As for the tears - yes, that's really an indication of innocence.  Guilty people don't cry real tears, and innocent people can't be stony faced with shock.  Stick to facts, rather than people's acting ability.

To a certain type of person (and this has nothing to do with how much money or education they have, its a social thing), dumping their kids on holiday is a way of life - they think its suave, upmarket and clever.  Go on holiday and forget the kids!  "Family holiday? What's that?"

  Portugal is a "tourist" country, if it prosecuted this type of person for abandonment, it would open the door to precedent and deter the scum and chav element from going there to spend money.
