  1. It is sometimes viewed as the connection of one woman to the tree of life.  Since, if you think about it all of us can go back through the cord to our original mother.   It is for this reason that it is thought that the worship of male gods is rather new in human history and that human sacrifices are almost always male.  The woman is viewed as the limb, while the male is the seed or even a leaf on that tree.  The Mother Earth symbol is well known through out human culture and the simularity of the symbolism  is remarkable.

  2. To have a cute belly ring. hehe

  3. Its not for anything now, but when you were in your mothers womb, the umbilical cord was attached to your body where the belly button now exists.  It supplied all of your food, oxygen, nutrients etc while your mommy was pregnant with you.  Now it is something used to hang a belly button ring from so that people can get others to look at their flat abs or their six-pack.

  4. nothing. it used to serve a purpose when you were still in the womb. it delivered nitrient to your body from the mother like a straw in your tummy. after you are born, then it's just a big scar.

  5. Your umbilical cord

  6. when you were in your mommys tummy there was a cord attatched to you and its called an umbilical cord and it gave you nutrients to help you grow and when you came out of you mommy the doctor cut it off. and thats why you have a belly button

  7. It is vestigial.  There is no use for it, it is simply something left over.  Another example is the appendix.  What is it good for except getting infected and leaving a scar?  Some humans even have vestigial tails!

  8. It is the perfect place to get poked and a bullseye for tickling someone. ;-)

  9. it heard it stores salt, but actually i believe it kinda helps us maintain our balance, cut it off, and you will be walking like a crack-head for life.

  10. to remind you of your attachment to your mother and respect for her

  11. I believe to transfer nutrients from mom to baby during pregancy

  12. once upon a time, you were in your mother's womb. there was no way for you to get nourishment, because you were trapped inside. what happened was, your umbilical cord suddenly connected with the placenta. it has a fetal part (yours) and a maternal part (your mom's). that's where you got nourishment. at the time of your delivery, the doctors cut this cord to separate you from your mom. it left a few cm until it dried and fell off by itself. giving you your belly button! cheers.

  13. IT WAs needed for the umbilical cord to nourish  the baby in the womb. today  i suppose it is to collect LINT111 LOL  SMILE   LOL.

  14. Once the little one comes into the world, the belly button has no more 'use.' We primates have more than a few 'parts' which are of no real use, and if our species lasts for a couple of thousand years more, you'll be seeing some of those parts dropping away. But if it means anything to you, the human brain...and therefore the skull...are apt to get a heck of a lot bigger and the senses...hearing, sight, smell...more acute. Wait around, you'll see.

  15. to store your gum while you eat

  16. Nothing, after the umbilical cord falls off. It tends to make a good lint catcher, I guess.

  17. its where the umbilical cord hooks up while your waiting to be born.

  18. It was your 24 hour tap to food as you floated inside your mother
