I am not sure on what I need as papers go to go to Mexico and come back. Do I just need my birth certificate and California ID to do so? I think as I have read that I don't need a passport if you are traveling by land until January the 31 of 2008. But I read that you need a turist card or something like that in order to stay there for over 72 hours or if you are going inside further of the border zone. I mean do I really need to get that even tough I look Mexican and speak spanish?

  1. You will need your birth certificate and State issued photo ID if you cross the border by land which it sounds like you are doing. Best to get your passport if you have the time. Also you can get a Mexican Tourist Visa issued at the border which you can use to travel in Mexico for 6 months. Good that you speak Spanish not so sure about the looking Mexican part.

  2. If you are travelling to Mexico by LAND, you do not need a passport until after summer of 2008.  You do need your certified birth certificate and a photo I.D.  If you are going beyond the 12 mile border area or staying more than 72 hrs, you need a tourist card, which you can get at the border gor about $22.00 USD.  Doen not matter if you look like a Mexican, your I.D. wii show that you are American.

  3. you need money
