Question:

So what do you think about the Teixeira trade?

As an Angels fan, I like it but I'm worried about Teixeira turning out to be a rental player. This would turn out to be a very costly move considering they traded Kotchman who looks very promising. But maybe a World Series win would be worth it. What do you think?

  1. i think this is a great move in the short term for the angels and a surprising one considering that they have a history of protecting their young, promising players to the death...management clearly recognizes that they have a great shot at the world series this year and made a move which will make them even tougher to beat in the postseason, which would be worth the price of giving up kotchman

  2. I personally think the Angels got a d**n good deal.

Casey Kotchman could be a very good player in the future hes a little above avg. right now

If the pitcher that was included in the deal could turn out to be a guy like Jair, or Tim Hudson they got a good deal

If they could resign him deff. would be a good deal!

  3. it was worthless they were getting of younger 1st basement for another 1st basement its stupid

  4. I'm a huge Braves fan and Teixeira was my favorite player on the Braves.  I do like Kotchman though and it was pretty obvious that the Braves wouldn't be re-signing Tex after this year so  I think the trade is pretty even right now.  Now if Tex does leave the Angels after this year, I think Atlanta will definitely end up ahead in this deal.

  5. It is a great move for the Angels, even if they can't keep Tex.

The Angels had the best record in baseball and they really had only 1 weakness: Lack of power. They can play the small ball but Vlad is aging and Anderson/Hunter doesn't give you enough poewr to outmash people in the AL. Teixiera solves that problem and now they got a feared lineup to go along with the best pitching in baseball. Plus Tex is a Gold Glove 1B. I think this really makes them the runaway favorite (and Red Sox fan here) to win the World Series.

  6. I am a Angels fan and loved Kotchman, so it is tough.  I prefer Braves signing him first then trading him to Angels and I would feel a lot better.

But it does give them a little more pop in there lineup and the past few years when playoffs came around their bats went cold.

For this year I like the trade, I just hope they can resign him at seasons end

  7. i think that the angels know for sure they will be making the playoffs and that this trade was made only to increase their chances of winning the world series

  8. IT IS JUST A TRADE, WHY IS EVER ONE SO CRAZY ABOUT IT.

  9. This will just another example that The LA Angels become World Series Champions.

  10. I don't think about overpaid idiots.

  11. I'm a Braves fan, and I must withhold my judgement on this deal. I love Tex, but I know we couldn't re-sign him, so we needed to trade him somewhere. I am just anxious about Kotchman, who many people say is not really a power hitter and is more of a #2 hitter. That leaves us without a cleanup hitter. I know he's supposed to have a good glove, but I have never seen a better glove at first than Tex. Add all his offensive numbers and the fact that he's a switch hitter to the mix, and you have one of the best players in all of baseball. We traded him for someone who has potential, but not the past numbers. We also got a pitcher. Who knows how he will wind up being? I hope he's good. We also cut Tex's salary out of the picture, which means we can go after Sheets or CC in the offseason. If we can get someone like that, then this trade will be worthwhile. If those plans fold though, I think we got ripped off.

  12. as a Phillies fan I am glad he is out of the NL east. Angels fans should also be happy ...you guys just got a gold glove 1st basemen with loads of power. The Braves on the other hand didn't get much in return for him.

  13. i too am worried about the 2 month rental, i thought that kotchman would be staying as an angel for a long time.. and like you said Tex might be very costly (boras wants a 10 yr 230 mill!)

things will certainly be interesting off season..

I think the management really wanted help to win the world series this year and who knows if the angels are even going to get that far? anyways, I loved watching kotchman out there on first base.. its tough to see him go :(

i'll definitely be looking at the Braves more now that he's there.

He's going to be just fine! Braves are gonna love him :) best of luck to him! <3

  14. looked relly unfair...kotchman is alrite but the prospect wasn't
