I know you can post content but can you talk to other members or do anything else.

You can post replies to other members' messages, and they can post replies to your messages.  Depending on the settings that the moderator has control of, you can also post pictures and other files in the appropriate sections of a Yahoo Group, and add links to the Links section.

many different types of groups to sporting, cars, school, support- all depends on the group, there is no chat group feature but many chat through messenger
