Question:

So...what has climate change done for you lately...?

Just curious....here in NJ USA we're (enjoying) a cold, wet spring. We're getting the trade winds and rain from the cold fronts that are spinning off the Rockies, giving Colorado and the Black Hills late snow, and flooding the Mississippi and Missouri. We're getting off kind of easy compared to all the tornados in the Midwest, South, and Southeast, but it's not a great time for my garden. So tell me, where are you, and has any extreme weather hit your area recently?

This is an informal survey- I'm curious for my own reasons- I like to compare live peoples' responses to 'official weather reports.'

  1. I live in lower central Canada and about 10 days ago it was snowing... then a couple days after it was sunny and warm... then a few days after that it was cold again. Bah!

  2. In Brisbane, Australia we are getting a 30 degree autumn (we use celcius, by the way).

Though I know you will read this and not do anything, I would still like to say:

    DON'T USE YOUR AIR CONDITIONER

YES, IT IS KEEPING YOU COOLER AND HELPING YOU COMBAT THE HEAT OF CLIMATE CHANGE

BUT IT IS MAKING THE PROBLEM WORSE

  3. Nothing really!

  4. Here in Northern Wisconsin its been a cool spring and its currently 36 degrees this morning. Its suppose to  warm up to around 64.  The leaves on the Aspens are just beginning  to sprout about a week later then usual.

  5. Colorado springs, Colorado and the last 2 days it's been cold, and we had some snow flakes yesterday. It's awesome to have this weather in mid May. NOT. I want sun already.

  6. Hi there, I am here in Australia (Tasmania) and this year we haven't had any extream weather, in fact there was very little difference between autum and winter for us. In pervious years we were looking at average temps of about -5 _ 11*o (not sure what that is in F) this year it has barely become cold enough to turn heaters on and days average temps of 16-18*0c. Very little rain.

  7. in MI: yesterday it was 70 and sunny. today it was barely 60, windy, and it started off rainy/stormy, then turned drizzly. I can't wait for tomorrow.

  8. Over the last 20 years that I've lived where I do I've seen the average winter become more mild, I've seen certain types of animals like racoons and rabbits become abundant where you would never see them before. Certain types of ocean birds can be found further north. It's quite a noticeable difference from back then. This particular winter was not too warm due to La Nina (like the 16th warmest this century) but still warmer than average.

  9. well the news today is that we're going to have water rationing this year.

2 relatively dry winters in a row have left reservoirs low, and snow pack is also low.
