  1. An area where the powers-that-be stick those who desire to exersize free speach, so that they will not be heard.

  2. A free speech zone is a cordoned area under the secret services authority, for protesters.  Since the patriot act passed, you actually have to have a permit which costs money, to organize at political events, and they create a free speech zone for you....organizers are also responsible for the added costs of "security", which local authorities will determine what level of security is needed to "protect them"....

So, basically it's a cage that is miles away from the actual event and out of veiw of cameras in order to show how loved our president is among 10 percent of the population...

Free speech zones are actually not new, they've been used for decades, but usually only when there are visits from multiple leaders of other countries, in which case everyone is typically kept at a distance of the caravans.  Never in history have they been used to such an extent to silence dissenters, as it has been with the Bush administration.

Not that Bush alone uses them for this purpose...but the RNC and DNC have used them quite a bit also at conventions....

They have nothing to do with security, but everything to do with censorship.

  3. How does a free speech zone infringe on your 1st amendment right?

Is your right to protest anymore important than the right of those who don't want to listen to your protest ?

Are you somehow more important than those who don't want to see or hear you when you protest ?

While you certainly have the right to protest under the 1st amendment you DO NOT have the right to force others to listen to you or didn't you learn that in school ?

  4. A free speech zone is any area not under the political control of the right wing.
