As for anime, please don't suggest ANYTHING annoying like Lucky Star, Death Note, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya et cetera.

Try to base it on what I've already seen, genre wise.

They can be older manga or anime. From the 80's, 90's whatever. As long as it's a good storyline, and not too short. I'm not into one shots really by the way.

the only one i could think of is maburaho, whether it be on there or not, is a funny anime to watch

Anime I would suggest Baccano! or Gankutsuou. Baccano! is about 1930s mobsters and alchemists fighting in prohabition era Chicago. Gankutsuou is based off the Count of Monte Cristo.

Manga I would suggest Yotsuba& which is just a lighthearted slice of life comedy about a curious little girl and those around her. Black Jack is also a series I hear great things about. It has been going on in Japan from the 70's till today and is about a surgeon who goes about curing anything and everything.

Although it may not be your type of anime Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is always good for a few laughs and has just gone into its second season.

Oh and if you don't mind fighting than Jojo's bizarre adventure may be something you find interesting and it is pretty long.
