So whats the status of johan holmqvist?

he's not on the stars roster, i havent heard anything about him. and if the stars dont have him what are the gonna do goalie wise. I mean i dont know much about tobias but i dont think he can be the backup

He's still a UFA, which surprises me.

He is a great goalie, despite his slump the last few seasons.

I think he is great backup material...Dallas didn't get to see him at the top of him game.  He was the BEST at the shoot-out, but not good enough to be #1.  

I have not heard any news on him.

The Stars have said that Tobias Stephan will start the season as backup.  I can't remember where I saw that though, if I find the link, I'll post it.

He's gone and will probably sign a contract overseas.  The guy is at most a backup, if even, and will be lucky to find a job in the NHL.  

Whether Stephen can be backup or not, Les Jackson has already stated he will be.  So it will be Turco and Stephen to start the season as the 2 goalies.
