  1. The earliest markings on stone, bone and antler, appear to have been primitive forms of calendars. So, the marking of time, and more precisely, the counting of lunar months, (as moon cycles are the most obvious recurring celestial event), were the very first "documents"!

One could even speculate that watching the night sky, along with the sun, by day, taught man how to begin to organize his mind, and begin to think rationally...

  2. its likely that prehistoric man could think, the earliest documented memory of man was cave paintings, they represented the life of early human.

They were all about hunting and food and plenty (not surprising considering the climate at the time) and some preposit them as an early form of magic or prayer, to try and ensure bounty.

these are the first documents of human beings, and the way in which the are drawn indicate a certain level of thought and understanding

  3. I had thought the earliest writings were financial records from Sumaria.

Think about cultures with no writing; they still have history -- oral history. Most likely, that's what everyone did before we started recording events in writing.

Wonder what WHAT was? "what could he think of"??? What could he think of WHAT?

  4. The Bible is the earliest documentary of human life.

  5. I agree, with the person that said that the Bible is the earliest documented memory of human life. The book of Job, in the Bible is the oldest book of the Bible. By the way, the earth is a lot younger than some scientists would have you believe. In order for evolution to work, billions of years of life on earth have to have transpired. Carbon dating is a joke. Things that are alive and breathing have been tested as being dead for hundreds of years. Check out the movie called "Expelled the Movie" for some interesting info on what has happened to scientists who disagree with the theory of evolution. [And it is only a theory]. The reader's digest version of the story: they get mocked and derided, and black listed by others in the so-called "scientific" community. Check out the movie on the web and in theatres for the half of the story teachers and scientists aren't allowed to teach.
