Question:

So when should I call back?

I received an offer on 8/13 for a position that begins on 9/8. I was told that an extensive background check would be done and it would take 1-2 weeks. HR told me that if I 'didn't hear anything from them, I was ok.' She also said that she does send out an last minute email confirming start date/time with parking instructions, etc. So, its 9/2. I haven't gotten the email yet. When would you call HR if you don't get that email? Friday is technically 'the last minute' but I don't know if calling tomorrow or Thursday would be appropriate to call for follow up.

Thanks!

  1. You should call them today!

  2. I would call.  Usually employers do not look down on follow up phone calls as long as they are not excessive.  The HR rep is probably just busy (especially with the holiday weekend) and has possibly forgotten about it.  You already have the job so don't worry about any repercussions from the phone call.  She will probably actually appreciate it as it is one less thing that she will have to worry about!
