  1. Australia

    Righty (cw) tighty

    Lefty (ccw) loosie

  2. sure is matey!

  3. All s***w threads throughout the world are of the same handedness. That is clockwise to tighten. That is because you need most strength to tighten a s***w & using your right hand clockwise uses the strongest muscles.

  4. They are called right hand threads and and if you twist it "forward" with your right hand you are tightening.

If you are looking at the top of a s***w or bolt and turn it the direction a clock hands move, (clockwise) you will be installing or tightening it.

Some applications use left hand threads, fuel lines for instance but we wont go into that. Easy enough to be confused as it is.

  5. I don't understand the significance of US vs. Australia in this context. In both places, most screws have right hand threads. If you turn the s***w clockwise, it tightens. If you turn the s***w anti (or counter) clockwise, it loosens. So righty tighty, lefty loosy is correct for both countries.
