  1. lcd bcoz power saving, clear, better, etc etc

  2. lcd. the reason i say this is because plasma is an older technology. plasma tv sets have been around since the late 90's and have always had an issue with burn in problems. go with lcd

  3. Plasma faster response time and stuff

    buy an LCD!

  4. LCD is best for cost, energy efficiency, lasting long, and no burn in. Plasma is better for the picture. Plasmas are fragile though. If they're mounted on a tilt or something, it would drastically decrease their life.

  5. It's a trade-off.  Plasma screens generally have better contrast and are priced lower than LCDs at the larger sizes, but they can be more fragile and you need to be careful to avoid burn-in.  LCDs are more energy-efficient and durable but can be more expensive in some of the larger sizes.

  6. Each has its advantages and disadvantages.

LCDs are not subject to burn in as are plasmas.

LCDs use less energy,  around 30% less size for size.

    LCDs weigh less.

LCDs have a narrower range of view, as you view the screen off center the picture becomes noticeably degraded.  Not so with plasma sets.

Plasma sets have a greater contrast ratio.

    Plasmas have more vivid color.

Plasma sets handle fast motion scenes better than most LCD sets do now, but LCDs are narrowing that gap.

Which you buy depends on what you are going to use it for.  For general TV use plasma sets have an edge in picture quality.  The very high end LCD sets are catching up.

If you are going to use it for video games or computer use go with an LCD.   Stationary scenes left on a plasma set for several hours can cause burn in.  Either set can be used with a tilting or rotating wall mount with no adverse effect.  LCDs are lighter and thus somewhat easier to mount.   I hope that helps.

  7. LCD is better, it has better picture quality and reliability and the contrast ratio is superior...

  8. LCD cuz i have a 52'' and its awesome

  9. Lcd

    they are brighter

    have a greater veiwing angle

    they use less energy

    theres no burn in

    they give off less heat

they generally have better picture quality

    hope thaty helps

  10. Wow, there are alot of misinformation about which is better on here.  First off plasma conquered the burn in issue about two or three generations back.  It is very hard to actually achieve burn in and in that rare case it does happen, it is very easy to get rid of.  Play a movie and by the time it's done playing the "burn in" will be gone.  I suggest turn the contrast down and either have the TV isf calibrated or buy a calibration disc like Avia or Sound and Vision Home Theater Tune up disc for easy calibration and getting better picture quality.  Most Tv's come from the factory in "Torch Mode" to look better in the store, doesnt look that good in your home.

Both plasma and LCD have their strengths and weakness.  Plasma has better black levels and don't suffer from motion blur as much as LCD's do.  But the glare screen is not good for bright rooms.

The LCD has no glare screen and is typically brighter and can been seen easily in a sun filled room, but as mentioned does suffer from motion blur (or pixellation) moreso than plasma.  Best thing to do is compare picture quality and determine how bright the room will be.  If you watch mostly at night and can control the lighting in the room, you may enjoy Plasma better.

Also putting a plasma or LCD on a tilt or on a wall will not decrease the life of the TV in any, shape or form.  Granted if you bump into it alot or live in an earthquake zone than that may jog things enough to cause a problem, but doubtful.

One more thing to consider if you live in a high altitude area than plasma will not work (it will affect the plasma gas construct that is inside, and LCD will be the better choice.

  11. LCD is much better

    they're cheaper sometimes

    last longer

    better quality,

overall, LCD will definitely win over Plasma
