Is that finally going to bring an end to the top 4?

Will this mean that Liverpool will have to be content with the UEFA Cup from 09-10 onwards?

  1. No, No and No, he didn't make his money by splashing it around, he will soon find out that EPL is a money muncher, Newcastle may slip into the top 6 but that's about it, he could however send some folding in the Upton Park direction!!!

  2. haha money doesnt guarantee success and silverware

look whats happening to chelsea and u will know what i mean

  3. ummmmm no arsenal perhaps, newcastle will NEVER finnish higher in the league than the reds, especially if they get sold to DIC, THE richest people in the world

  4. lol no you'll have 'the top 5' instead ( with Liverpool being the fifth :P )

  5. well i'm not sure, if they do get sold to him, he may not want to spend all of his money on players like Abramovich does.

QPR's owner is the richest man in europe i think and although they have bought a lot of players they haven't bought the best players in the world.

  6. Just because the club is being sold to the 6th richest man doesn't mean it'll bring an end to the top 4 in one year, a club takes time to develop.

  7. No, not at all.

Firstly, although he may be the 6th richest man in the world, I highly doubt he will put a great amount of money into the football club. There's loads of clubs all over Europe with mega rich owners who have no more money than your average football club. Most owners treat football clubs as a little money-maker...they don't want to put money into it, they want money out of it.

Secondly, if Newcastle were to challenge the top four within the next few years, it's far more likely that the smaller two of the 'Big Four' will be under threat than the biggest two clubs in England, Liverpool and Manchester United. Arsenal and Chelsea are much more likely to drop out of the top four if any team is going to. Liverpool have the history, fan base, financial backing and 'super club' status that means they will never be anything but a super club.

With Chelsea that's not the case. They could drop out of the big time and just be considered another Newcastle or another Blackburn. They've only won major silverwear (League, Champions League) twice within the last 50 years. Not much better than Blackburn who are simply considered a mid-table average club now. That could be Chelsea in five years time.
