Question:

Soaking Carbs in Sea Foam / adjusting carbs,,,?

Can I use one of those cans of air people use for cleaning computer key boards on my carb jets etc? Also, after removing all rubber pieces from carb, can I just dunk it in a can of Sea Foam over night. Bike is warmed up, then I sync up idle screws but it dies out. Some times it speeds up then slows down and then dies. Maybe my valves are too tight? Not sure what's going on, but I have a feeling it's my right carb because when I put my hand over my right muffler it sputters uneven, unlike my left side. My left side gives me a nice clean pop pop pop pop. Air mixture s***w are correct. Or at least I think they are. Bike will run, but when I get to a stop light, I have to rev it like I'm warming up a two stroke and it's driving me and my neighbors up the wall. Any advice? Thanks!!!!!

  1. I would buy a gallon of Parts Cleaner at the local auto store. It was the only thing that got my scooter back to life after sitting for 5 years. Some of the small jets are probably still clogged. Did it sit for a while? Take apart the carb, remove all the rubber/plastic, and let it sit right in the cleaner for a full day. If that doesn't work, it's probably not the carb.  You can use the air blower if you want, but that will not clear out any built up varnish from old fuel. You need something to dissolve the varnish from the jets.
