Question:

Soap Scum on tub...how to get rid of it?

I've tried every product imaginable to remove the soap scum from the sides of the tub in our bathroom, to no avail. What I find is happening is that the cleaners are cleaning the scum so the dirt doesn't show, but the scum is actually still there. I've resorted to using a rubber scraper (I know - sounds disgusting), but it is taking me forever to get rid of it, and it comes back so quickly! I only have 1 tub in my house that is like this - the other two don't get scum build up like this one does (and yes, it is the most used tub in the house). I also have MS which really limits my ability to put some "elbow grease" into the cleaning effort.

Any solutions? My in-laws are coming into town in a couple weeks and that is the tub they'll be using :(

Thanks!

  1. CLR Cal / Rust / Lime Remover. Works instantly. You can get that in grocery stores and Home Depot.

  2. White vinegar should cut the scum.  Apply and leave for about 15 mins and then rinse well.  This has done the trick for us.  Good luck.

  3. use baking soda and a damp rag to remove the scum...it peels it right off and rinses away nicely

  4. we use Lysol bathroom cleaner and it works for us

  5. You work at it to move it o.k.

  6. Have you tried BAM bathroom cleaner for soap scum, and hard water build up. It really cuts in my bathroom?

  7. Tilex soap scum remover always works for me.
