Question:

Soap and leather/pleather steering wheels

Some time ago, I dropped a drop or two of laundry detergent on the steering wheel of a car, the steering wheel is one of those leather or leather like ones and is pretty old, and already looks pretty beaten up. This shouldn't damage the wheel at all, if it happens again right? I mean they are made to handle sweaty hands, lotions, and hand sanitizers and all sorts of abuse from hands and not to mention the sun. Has anyone here also exposed their steering wheel to soap or something else nasty to the material?
