Soboba Classic tees off with an all-star field
The nationwide PGA tour kicked off its last stage on the 29th of September, 2010 which contained one of the strongest fields till date. The Soboba Classic is being held at the San Jacinto’s Country Club of Soboba and is the ultimate Californian
event for 2010.
The event shines because of two main reasons - one is the $1 million win bonus at stake and the second is the number of professional golfers taking the field. Out of the list of top 60 players, nearly every player has made it to the Country Club with the
exception of Fran Quinn. From the top 100 golfers, 95 players have decided to appear in the tournament with players such as Fran Quinn, Jarrod Lyle, John Mallinger, Peter Gustafsson and Craig Barlow in the fore.
Among those who are participating at the all-star field, John Chin and Brendan Steele are expected to make their mark in the tournament. Steele, who hails from Hemet, is standing on spot number 37 at the Nationwide Money index. If Steele is able to perform
a brilliant game at The Soboba Classic this week, then he might be shooting up to grab a place in the top 25 in this list, enabling him to win a place at the PGA Tour due to be held next year.
For a golfer already in the top 25, Alistair Presnell’s proves that he is worthy of the 24th spot. Amongst the Australian delegation, he is the only one in the top 25. Like Steele, if Presnell plays an exceptional game, he will enhance his chances
of maintaining the successes earned by him in the year. The successes relate to the PGA entry which will be held next year.
Apart from this Australian, there will be 14 others to join Presnell at the Soboba event. Ewan Porter and Gavin Coles are the two Australians that are ranked inside the top 50 list. Coles is standing on number 44 and Porter currently holds the 38th
place which may be subject to change after this week's performances.
The Soboba Classic which will continue till Sunday, along with hosting the tee-off, will also have a kid’s corner. It will house carnival games, a petting zoo, jumpers, inflatable slides as well as obstacle courses. The tournament will also be offering a
health and wellness fair, an impressive beer and wine garden along with a college corner set up near Hole number 15.
