I'm am coming back on the Varsity Team for my third year and I am nervous. Mostly I think because I hate the feeling of running a lot more than I'm used to. You know the painfulness of running when you want to stop but you cant cause coach will get mad. Am I just being over anxious? What do you think?

  1. Hi.

Yes I know exactly what you mean running can be a real pain! I don't think you're being over anxious at all, but it is a good idea to prepare and be ready where the running is concerned...

Do you go running regularly on your own anyway? If you do then ignore this, but if you don't you could try running several times a week to ease you into it and you might find it less painfull. It may sound obvious, but if you're used to running then doing it in tryouts won't be any different. Plus, if you've pushed yourself when running on your own then you'll be able to do it with the team as well!

Other than that, I do agree that it can be really unpleasent when you're pushed to your limits, but I'd  say just try to have the determination and motivation to keep going as long as you can. If you've prepared then you can feel less nervous so just try to relax.

I hope the tryouts go well!
