ok tryouts are august 18th. I'm going into 10th grade and captain on jv but i have a chance of making varsity and i want to get in shape before tryouts. What kind of distance running should i do. I'm not sure if i should just go run, go to the track, do bleachers or what? which helps the most

  1. thats not alot of time but the best way to build up endurance is to run on the track and jog the curves and sprint the starights.  Do this for 3 miles and ull get into shape right quick.  If ur endurance isnt that good yet then either u can walk, jog, sprint, or just take it a lil eaiser on the sprints and not go balls to the wall

  2. i would suggest running 3-5 miles on the track and then doing bleachers... if you want to play on varsity you should do everything that you can to make yourself the best player you can be. practice with the ball, juggle, set up cones and dribble.. doing all these little things can help in the long run. good luck at your try out!!

  3. id do the track 4 times and bleachers 2 times. soccer already started for me and thats what we did. but remember that distance isnt everything, sprints r important 2

  4. go to the track and run and do the stairs also keep on eating healthy

  5. Depending on your current physical well being and amount of daily physical activity, you may be a little late to really get in shape.

Already being a captain on JV I assume that you are already physically fit and are looking to improve your potential performance once tryouts arrive.  Any and all of the options you provided will help improve your endurance and therefore your distance running.  Unless you know that you will be running bleachers, stick to the track.  If you are going to be running flat surfaces, you might as well train there.

Each day try to run a little further as well as a little faster in order to increase your endurance.

In addition to distance running, work on your sprinting.  Blowing by an opponent or winning a footrace with an older player will get you noticed by the varsity coaches much more than performing well in a distance run.

To do that, try sprinting with some resistance.  Wear a weighted vest, or a waist parachute to make running more difficult.  After a little bit of training like that, you will notice an improvement in performance once the resistance is removed.
