Social Problems project

Question

so i have to do a social problems project where have to use a parady show that shows well a social problem i have to include

how the media is exploiting our fear

what social problem has the media created or thoughtfuly analyzed

i have come to two choices

Family Guy- which peter suffers a stroke from eating too many hamburgers

or

Family Guy- where meg and peter work at walmart

i just want to know which one i should one and would give me something to talk about.....

any other suggestions would be nice... thanks

I don't know what level of education you are at, but I would suggest Episode 2, season 11 of South Park, titled "Britney's New Look".

It takes a real critical look how our society is so preoccupied with celebrity life, and how damaging it is to be in the spot light. Like many South Park episodes, the social commentary is implied, but this one is a little more obvious in getting its message across.

The only thing is it's a little darker than most South Park episodes, and intended for a mature audience.

What social problem would these show?

I can understand the first example I guess, of eating too much fast food... but how would you call that a social problem?

The second one is not related to any important social problem. In no way can walmart or any large superstore be a social problem, nor is working at one.

Why don't you try to do something on teen pregnancy? That is what I would do. Use those daytime television shows such as Maury or something, or even articles in the newspaper about those girls that made a pact to get pregnant to relate to the media. It is a much more serious problem, and people love to talk about it in the media.

Might want to look into MadTV and SNL also. The issue of people suing major companies is good, though I do believe that you better have a solid case that won't be the laughing stock of the media.
