I want only Americans to answer this question okay, please? What if I go to the social security office in ,say, like Philadelphia, and tell them that, look, my parents just kicked me out because they don't accept who I am, and I need a few hundred dollars to pay my rent for the first month before I get a job. Do you think those people will find a way to help me or not?

  1. It is highly unlikely that you'll find any group that will help you pay rent if you do not already have a job. The main reason for this is that you will need to show that you can pay the rent on an apartment without assistance after that first month. There are other options for places to stay until you can save up money for your own apartment if you are truly kicked out of your parents home.

Social Security is limited, it is not designed to give rental assistance to able-bodied people who are not either disabled or older and retired.

You could stay with other relatives, friends, or stay at a shelter until you can get a job and save up money for your own place. There are programs that can help you, but it will not be easy starting out, especially if you do not already work. Expecting to have your own apartment right away without already having a job seems overly optimistic to me, your really need to consider other forms of help and other places to stay for now.

  2. You need a disability to collect ssi , go for the job.

  3. Sorry to say ..but no, they will not. They will tell you to go to Social Services nearest you,...I doubt they would help either.  Things just dont work that way.
