Question:

Social Work Masters degree - Interview tips?

I recently applied for an MSW course starting in September and I've been invited to attend an interview and I wondered if anyone had any tips or advice for me?

I have a small idea of what to expect (group discussion, 30 minute individual interview, and some sort of written task) but I am just wondering if there is anything in particular I should be concentrating on? My background is in sociology (BA) but I also work for a Local Authority as an Admin assistant at the moment with a social work team providing services for older people.

Also, I wondered what would be appropriate clothing for the interview, as it is an academic interview rather than for a job, I am unsure whether to go for suit/formalor more casual?

Many thanks.

  1. how wld MSW helped in your job?  do u intend to move on to PhD?

how are u coping in your present job?

what is the fulfilment of your work?

    do u think u will reach burn-out.

these were some questions i asked someone during an interview.

also, not to much makeup!  no fancy nail polish! no 4inch hi-heels!

goodluck and we hope u get it

  2. It is always better to dress up than dress down -  A nice skirt or pants suit would be fine.

Be yourself, be honest, be open.  The big thing they are looking for in an interview is emotional readiness.  They are looking at your maturity and how you respond to questions.
