I've had social anxiety disorder for about four years now, i've lost all my friends, and i have no life. My mom is a single mother trying to raise six kids, and she works all day so she doesn't have time to take me anywhere to get help. Now I want to kill myself because there's no point in living anymore. Any help?

  1. Social Anxiety Disorder is a real condition.  Someone who has not gone through it is in no place to say "snap out of it" because it is a real monster you have to overcome.  I have had it to the point where I couldn't leave my dorm room even to go eat.  I failed most of my classes and was put on medical leave. It is nothing to laugh at.

Fortunately talking to a therapist helps. There are ways you can work on your anxiety and overcome it.  Medication can make the process so much easier too by relieving you of some of that huge burden.

We no longer live in the dark ages. Anxiety disorders are very common and going to a "shrink" or taking meds does not mean your insane in any way.  Talk to your school counselor if you have one or a relative you trust.  Find any adult you trust and talk.  That is the most important thing you can do.  And don't hold anything back.

I've struggled with anxiety for around 7 years now (I'm 20) and I know how overwhelming it can be.

Suicide, however, is NEVER an option.  This disorder is getting more and more treatable by the day and you can lead a perfectly normal life when you treat the condition.

Suicide hurts you but it also scars relatives and friends, even if they weren't always kind to you, with so much guilt and pain bringing the problem full circle.  My cousins friend committed suicide and my cousin became severely depressed for years.

Everyone faces steep hills to climb but everyone has potential and years from now I know you will look back at those hills you climbed and be a stronger person for it.

You are in a difficult state of mind now but once you find your way out you will see things in a whole new perspective.  Life can be really bad sometimes but there is so much to be had.  The throwing away of a life is the worst tragedy ever.

Just take it day by day.  You really should see a professional but in the mean time you can buy effective herbal remedies at any health food store.  Kava, valerian, passionflower, and skullcap have helped me to stay calm when I didn't have medicine.  You can buy them as pills, liquid,or tea.  Experiment with the to see what works.

Please do the right thing and talk to someone.  I've been buried in anxiety before but by taking it a day at a time and keeping the faith that life will get better I have found so many things that help me and the "monster" is still there but I have it on a leash.

Life sucks big time but life can be amazing too.  Never give up!

    Good luck :)

  2. snap out of it.

  3. In any type of anxiety disorder, the self is most important in curing the  problem. You didn't tell your problem in detail so it may be hard to give definite advice.

  4. I don't see how you could be helped. I don't know what this "disorder" is, im thinking it just makes you really shy, but if I were you I would just try to make the best out of life. Killing yourself is not the way. Do something fun before you die.

  5. You can't be serious right? She doesn't have time to take you anywhere for help? Talk to your mother about it, tell her how serious things are. It doesn't matter if she's on a tight schedule, if she's a half-decent parent she should at least be able find the time to drop you off some place to get therapy. Jesus, your life is worth more than that.
